Here's a picture of one of my late dachshunds, Dobie.
These are all scans of original black and white negatives that I shot. They were scanned with a friend's Polaroid SprintScan35. I adjusted brightness and contrast, reduced the resolution, and saved them as jpeg files. Then these jpegs were reduced even more to produce the gifs.
