I assume the "soaked in" look the color has on the end of the
butt means this stock was originally stained to achieve its color. I don't
know what kind of wood it is or what its "natural" color was.
In this next shot, you can see the trigger spring, which didn't want to come
out. Funny thing is, during application of the first coat of 1:1 BLO:LOMS,
this spring fell out on the table. Luckily, it didn't get away from me.
